Madoc has been brewing regularly since 1995. He was initially taught by a friend of his in Meridies, who walked him through his first batch of English bitter. He received a beginner's equipment kit for his birthday in early 1996, and has been brewing regularly ever since. While living in Calontir, he was one of several brewers who founded the Royal Brewer competition, emphasizing historical research of alcoholic beverages equally with the palatability of the finished product. He also taught numerous classes for the Royal University of Scir Hafoc at Lilies War and other collegia events. It was during this time that he also became involved with the mundane American Homebrewers Association (AHA), and began training as a judge. While living in the East between 2002 and 2007, he concentrated on historical research into various ingredients and processes used in period meads and distilled beverages. In 2005, his cinnamon cyser won the AHA national silver medal for fruit mead. Since returning home to AEthelmearc, he has focused on elevating awareness of and interest in the brewing sciences. He has taught numerous classes at AEcademy, Pennsic, War Practice, and a few smaller events, has sponsored competitions and tasting taverns, and has worked to promote greater interest in both historical research and appropriate judging of competitions within the kingdom. He currently serves as the head of the Brewers' Guild and the Guild web minister.
