Beverage of the Month

For those of you who are interested in contributing to the Beverage of the Month (and I know you're out there!), there is no specific template to follow. (If you prefer structure, feel free to simply copy one of the submissions below.)

Your beverage of the month doesn't need to be an exhaustively documented period drink from 1237, and it doesn't need to be a step-by-step recipe. However, do make connections between history and our craft. Did you try "AN EXCELLENT WHITE MEATHE" and have opinions about the outcome? Do you have notes about how a specific style of wine was used in religious ceremonies? Did you experiment with different kinds of honeys in one of your mead trials?

If you'd like to submit a beverage for a future monthplease send it along!

Wine in Late Medieval Tuscany

If you want to find historically accurate wines to have with your medieval feasts, just look to Tuscany!
The Braggot
|
Braggots have well-established roots in period, particularly during the 14th century. If you look at the modern judging criteria, a braggot falls into the mead category. I reject this. Historically a braggot is a beer made with honey added.
